Announcements

First Marking Period Ends on Friday, 17OCT14.   The 1st Marking Period ends this Friday.  All grades must be complete in Skedula by Wednesday, 22OCT14 at 3PM.  Colleen is going to spearhead our first round of grade uploads with Skedula. I'm going to help her with the DOE Stars end.  So, bear with us as we learn how to do this for the first time.  Help us streamline the process by making sure that your grades are complete and accurate and uploaded into Skedula by Wednesday, 22OCT14.

Second Marking Period Expectations.  The 2nd Marking Period begins on Monday, 22OCT14.  I will not be evaluating progress towards school goals for the 1st marking period..  However, I will be periodically checking the CUR and Conference tallies, unit arcs, grades, shares and  as I continue on my observations during this marking period.   Please make sure that you are meeting the school goals by reaching or exceeding targets for guaranteed learning opportunities:

Reminder on grading policy.  As we approach the end of the first marking period, please review the UAI grading policy.  Click on the picture below to review the policy.

Achievements in Attendance.  Our average daily attendance for September was 92%.  That's up from 88% last year.  The biggest difference between this year and last year is YOU!  Phone calls home are working, and we are almost to our goal of 95% overall attendance.  Keep up the great outreach!  It's having impact!


Great Job on School Safety.  Both the Fire Drill and School lockdown were super successful!  Some minor tweeks in practice are needed.  When putting up the chart paper, please make sure that your windows are fully covered (the hallway sweepers) mentioned being able to see in on some rooms.  For the fire drill all was good!

PSAT Teacher Schedule,  15OCT14

PSAT is on Wednesday, 15OCT14.   All 10th and 11th graders will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday.  Please help students understand the importance of this exam.  This is first time that we'll be able to measure student college-readiness on a nationally normed exam.  It's important that students take this exam seriously and view it as one of their first steps to college.  To the left are both the Teacher and Student schedules.  Please click on the images to see them at full size.  This schedule has been shared several times with teams, but it never hurts to be extra prepared!

PSAT Student Schedule, 15OCT14

Please discuss the importance of the PSAT with your students in class and in advisory.  Please make sure that they understand the schedule and where they are supposed to be.  Students should plan to arrive at school by 7:50AM so they can have (1) a buffer time if transportation has issues, and (2) a good breakfast prior to testing.  We will be sending home a school messenger, but please help by bringing student attention to this exam in your classes and advisory.  If we're all talking about it, our students will get the message!  Many voices make a strong message!
