Committee Updates

UAI Committee Updates.  No Updates this week.

Announcements and To Do

Vaccine Campaign Kickoff.  One of the only ways we are going to be able to maximize the quality of learning we're able to plan for the fall is if we maximize the number of vaccinated folks in our school. The more who are vaccinated, the safer we are as a community.  We need to be safe in order to learn.  While PPE has it's place, PPE alongside vaccination is maximal safety for all.

That said, vaccine hesitancy is real, and folks have real reasons to question the vaccine.  We want everyone in our community to make the decision that is right for them, but we also want to make sure that our community members are operating with all the information they need to make an informed choice. So...

This week we are holding advisory town halls about the vaccine.  Please bring your advisory during their regular advisory time to the zooms.  Kiri will be leading the info session, centering student questions, concerns, and myths!  Kids will also get a chance to hear from their peers and teachers about their own vaccine experiences.  The goal is to give airtime to worries and to provide as much information as they need to feel more informed and comfortable about making the decision to get vaccinated.  If you are willing to share your own story and/or if you have students in your advisories willing to share, please email Kiri and join the Town Halls listed below!
  • 6th and 7th grade Advisory Vaccine Town Hall
  • 8th through 11th grade Advisory Vaccine Town Hall (12th Grade already had theirs!)

Vaccine Social Media Campaign Kickoff.  You are invited to join our social media campaign.  Please send Jen your pictures and stories of your own.  It could be your own experience with the vaccine, your family's experience, and why you chose to do so.  If you have students who are willing to share, please let Jen know, too.  We want to definitely try to push this into our social this week as we prep up for the Town Halls.

Tech Collection.  Tech collection begins this week.  We need to call back all technology from students so that we can take a proper inventory, make any necessary repairs, and perform any updates so that equipment is ready for the next school year.  Students have been returning iPads without chargers.  Please emphasize that we need to have the chargers returned.  Here are the directions for tech collection:
  • In-Person Advisors
    • Direct students to bring technology to YOU in your in-person classroom.
    • When you come in, stop by the main office and pick up labels & markers
    • When students return equipment you must
      • Put a label on the machine and write the student's name on it
      • Put a label on the power cords and write the students' name on it
      • At the end of the day, return your tech collection box to ROOM B43
      • Fill out THIS SHEET to document student tech return
  • Remote Advisors
    • Direct students to bring technology to school from 10AM-12PM (on their assigned day)
    • We'll have a collection site set up at entry with staff (Aisha/Courtney/Jen/Annie/Kiri)
    • When students return equipment (Aisha/Courtney/Jen/Annie/Kiri) will
      • Put a label on the machine with the student's name
      • Put a label on the power cords with the student's name
      • Fill out THIS SHEET to document student tech return
  • Staff Tech & Key Collection
    • All staff will also have to return school issued tech for summer repair, inventory, and updates.  All school tech (e.g. chromebooks, iPads, calculators, laptops, document cameras, etc) and school keys and elevator cards must be returned.  Similar to student, staff must
      • Put a label on the tech with staff name on it
      • Put a label on the power cords with staff names on it
      • Label ALL keys with room number and staff name
      • Label elevate key card with staff name
      • All 8-12th grade staff return all tech by the EOD on (16JUN21)
      • All 6-7th grade staff return all tech by EOD on (24JUN21)
      • NOTE:  If you need school tech to conduct final advisory zoom on last day of school, hold onto it and then return all tech to school after your final zoom on 25JUN21 (otherwise, you are welcome to zoom from your phones)
      • All teacher tech & keys should be returned to Kiri the main office
      • We will reissue tech to staff if needed in September.  If you are working summer per session, please reach out to Kiri directly if you need to hold onto your tech.

NX Documentation.  If you have students who will not complete your course by the end of school, please complete THIS FORM no later than EOD Monday (you should have already completed it during Grade Team Meetings on Friday, but in case you didn't finish...)

Schedule Release.  According to contract, we must release your schedule prior to the last day of school.  However, that program is also understood to be subject to changes pending budget and staffing changes over the summer.  So...since we haven't actually received our budget yet (it's not coming out until June 18th!!) and guidelines for physical distancing and Fall COVID rules are still pending, this likelihood of this program changing is QUITE HIGH.  That said... Here it is. Changes will happen...some of the things we're considering
  • Will we have enough funds to hire enough staff to shrink class sizes to 25 students?  This will enable us to have more "normal" programming and remain within the new spacing mandates (3' as opposed to 6')
  • The goal is to make sure teaching grade and subject assignments remain constant throughout changes to the extent possible.  That said teachers should definitely be prepared for some shifting and we'll get those to you as soon as we have them!
  • The scheduling committee (or at least members who are available during the summer) will continue to meet to work on the program and hold regular communications on progress with staff throughout the summer.  Please continue to share questions and concerns!

Per Session Postings
